Our sustainable approach
MODHER’s handbags are made in Italy by craftsmen, where exceptional skills fit with our ethical values. Our small-batch productions and short supply chain allow us to have in person relationships with our artisans before, during and after the handcrafting of our handbags.
In 2021, MODHER became a Certified B Corporation™. This means that as company, and through our work, we are committed to using the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
In 2021 we introducedEcoCart to ensure that our products and shipments are carbon neutral. For every purchase, we contribute to verified carbon offsetting initiatives that offset the carbon footprint of our products including the shipment.
Also, in the mission to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, we leave no stone unturned.
We use leather exclusively produced in Italy where the circular production methods are strictly monitored to ensure a low impact on the environment. The raw material is a by-product of Italian and European origins. No animal is killed for its skin, what would otherwise be discarded by the food industry is transformed into long-lasting luxury pieces. There is no redundant packaging, and all bags are shipped in elegant gift box made out of recycled cardboard and paper, that is chlorine-free. Our branded dust bag, made in Italy are 100% cotton.
"WHEN I REALIZED THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF PLASTICS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY, I DECIDED TO PUT MY EFFORT INTO DESIGNING A BETTER, NATURAL LEATHER EXPERIENCE. MY GOAL IS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY STEP WE TAKE IS THOUGHTFUL, FROM RESPECTING THE LABOR TO PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT. WE TRAVELED ACROSS ITALY TO FIND SUPPLIERS FULLY COMMITTED TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKSPACE AND TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE OUR ECOSYSTEM."
