“OUR HANDBAGS ARE NOT JUST ABOUT TREND AND FASHION, BUT ALSO ABOUT DEFINING A MEANINGFUL LIFESTYLE.
WE WANT TO PROVIDE JOY THROUGH POSITIVITY, ALL WHILE GIVING TO OUR WOMEN THE CHIC PIECES THEY CRAVE”.
THE STORY BEHIND
A DIFFERENT KIND OF LUXURY
In a time of fast fashion and ecologically unsound shortcuts, native Sicilian and San Francisco based designer Gianna Caravello was inspired by the idea to make her first bag out of an ecological material possessing appeal, story and quality. So she turned to classic Italian methods applying modern and sustainable practices.
In 2019 she launched MODHER (pronounced “mod-her” as the combination of the words modern and leather), a high-end line of understated, sustainable and timeless leather accessories for women.
The debut collection consists of three classics: the minimalist and structured Elba shopper bag crafted using exclusively eco-certified vegetable tanned leather, the softer best-selling Bellagio tote and the sleek and easy Envelope Clutch. Each design is handmade in Tuscany, Italy.
Born in Sicily, Gianna grew up under the sun of South Italy, surrounded by colorful motifs and creative traditions, where the notion of luxury means things that are beautifully crafted, practical and made to last. Gianna attended the Industrial Design at Polytechnic University in Milan and studied Communications Design at NABA Academy in Milan.
After almost a decade as User Experience in the USA, Gianna decided to turn her career and she launched her sustainable fashion label. Gianna wants to create a brand that reflects an understated and sustainable luxury: long-lasting pieces that hold memories for the woman who wears them: real woman, alluring and master of herself, with so many more important things going on besides her style.
